GOOD NEWS UPDATE PLEASE READ - EBAY CHANGES IT'S ACCEPTED BUSINESS MODELS
74eBay Program live!
According to a recent agreement between Ebay and Hubpages, once again Hubbers will be able to earn through Ebay. All Hubbers interested in the opportunity have to activate their earning status in the earnings section of Hubpages.
This time the process is very simple, just few clicks and you are finished but you still have to wait for ebay approval. Now how you will make money.
HubPages has a new partnership agreement with eBay. Starting in early October, Hubbers can join the eBay Partner Network (ePN) directly from HubPages. Most Hubbers have been unable to join eBay’s network over the past few years, so this is a new monetization opportunity for most of you.
The program will track referrals from your Hubs. You will accrue into your HubPages Earnings Program balance from this activity, based on the amount and quality of clicks from your Hubs.

Ebay changes it’s accepted business models:
We have decided to wind down three types of business models that were previously allowed in eBay Partner Network: tier-2 paid search, ad networks, and sub-affiliates. This change will affect all countries and programs on eBay Partner Network. To be clear, it is still allowed for publishers to source traffic to their own websites via these methods, we are just not allowing direct promotion of eBay through these models.

Dec 2009 eBay report - I started promoting eBay again in Dec 2009
eBay Affiliate Program does not Honor Hubbers from Hubpages
I joined Hub pages now for a little bit over 2 years. When I joined Hub pages, it was really for fun during my leisure time, writing what I enjoy & like. I had not intentions of making money from Hub pages because of my tight schedule time was the major probem. In Jan 2009, I realized I am publishing with Hub pages already, so why not join the affiliate programs, Google, Ebay & Amazon too.
After lots of thinking on January 28, 2009, I joined all the affiliate programs. All the Google, Ebay & Amazon procedures were followed. I started promoting Amazon & Ebay links on hub pages but with no fruitful outcome, I decided to stop promoting both Ebay & Amazon. However when Ebay announced they intent to pay for clicks too. What kind of clicks that too is very confusing because according to Ebay policy it says quality clicks. What are quality clicks I have no idea.
Anyway, I decided to promote eBay again in Dec 2009. I made 0.45 Cents in Dec 2009 but since Jan 2010 I am getting lots of clicks everyday my clicks shows in Ebay reports but there is no money. On 01-18-2010, I contacted ebay & explained the situation. In their reply, they told me, please read copy of their email response bellow. I am pasting the copies of my communications with Ebay. According to eBay’s first reply, they do not honor hubbers from Hub pages & several other websites where placing promotional links are not allowed.
I do not have answer to these questions.
Do you know what is going on with the Hubpages & Ebay partnership for affiliate program?
If eBay no longer want eBay affiliates program affiliated with Hubpages & does not want Hubbers to promote their content on Hubpages, then why eBay is still listed on Hubpage affiliate set up page?
Either I do not understand or eBay network support staff does not know the right answer because in 2009, I asked eBay support about domain confirmation question and their answer was same. You do not own http://hubpages.com/profile/Mr+Nice this is only a subfolder. To my understanding that means I need my own domain.

I feel your pain. Got the same treatment from eBay as well as Adsense. Was dropped from Adsense as a 'threat' with no explanation. Life goes on I guess.
I don't think it should matter whether or not you own the hosting site, so long as the content is exclusively yours, and relevant. Apparently they still have a problem with this...haven't set up my eBay thing yet, but did get it started. Maybe it's not worth my time to bother with it.
this is very interesting. I don't have an ebay account, not got around to it. I wonder though if Mr (or Mrs?) hubpages knows about this...or is it that only hub pages benefits but encourages us to put ebay on all the same? oooh, the plot thickens.
I think you better talk to HP staff. Ebay is tricky thing. :)
This makes me mad. I may not own my sites but I am promoting Ebay all the same! I have been a seller and buyer on Ebay for years! If It would help to BAN Ebay and close my accounts with them I would but I think it would take many more people to quit them for them to consider changing their rules.
How long does it take Ebay to approve your application? They are changing my adds, but haven't sent me an approval.
Hmmm, this is very interesting. I see a lot of hubs that promote eBay stuff and was wondering how that was going. Sounds like it's a waste of time.
At the end of the day Ebay is losing out - no one else. Thanks for the hub
I have had the same problems with ebay. It is not worth the trouble to get on with thier affiliate program. Amazon dropped me too, saying the affiliate program is no longer available in my state.
I tried to apply for an EPN account and was turned down as well. I've heard conflicting information, but your article clears it up. Thanks for the information.
thanks for bringing up this hub :)
Mr Nice, eBay capsules are still provided on HubPages because many Hubbers already have affiliate accounts, and are therefore allowed to use that account on HP.
That's why eBay and Amazon capsules are optional - if you're not an affiliate, don't use their capsules.
I'm surprised though, because I was pretty sure that if you already had an eBay account when the change happened, you would not lose it.
If you contact the eBay contact centre, you will get a silly message about not owning your domain, because their customer service people don't know what they're talking about - I did too, but I was still able to confirm my domain as HubPages. Did you try confirming your domain following the step by step instructions on HubPages?
Mr Nice, eBay did not stop selling existing affiliates when the system changed. I am still getting paid. So are many other Hubbers. What they did was stop accepting new members.
If you read all the way down to the end of the page on the link you sent me, you'll see I'm right.
Like I said, the explanation you'll get from eBay customer service is just plain wrong, they don't know what they're talking about. I doubt very much your account was disabled - I recognise the wording you've quoted as identical to the email which they sent to me, and my account still worked once I had got the right story from HubPages admin.
Here's a Hub which explains what you need to do to get your existing account set up again:

It's worth a try.
